February 1 (SeeNews) - Romania's unemployment rate stood at 5.4% in December, unchanged from a month earlier, the statistical office said on Thursday, quoting provisional data.
Compared to December 2022, Romania's jobless rate inched down by 0.2 percentage points, the statistical office said in a monthly report.
In December, the registered unemployed in Romania amounted to 444,000, an increase from 442,100 in November but a decrease from 468,400 in December 2022.
The jobless rate among women in December was 4.7% versus 5.9% among men.
The unemployment rate for adults aged between 25 and 74 was estimated at 4.2% in December. Jobless individuals within this age group constituted 73.4% of the total unemployed population. Meanwhile, unemployment among individuals aged 15 to 24 remained elevated at 21.1%.
Romania's active workforce is estimated to have reached 8.17 million people in the third quarter of 2023, down from 8.26 million at the end of 2022.
