April 29 (SeeNews) - The number of building permits for residential projects issued in Romania in the first three months of 2024 fell 7.2% year-on-year, to 7,422, the national statistical office, INS, said on Friday.
In March alone, Romania issued 3,037 building permits, of which 71% were for projects in rural areas, INS said in a monthly report.
Residential building permits issued in March declined by an annual 9.2% but increased by 19% on a monthly basis.
Non-residential permits amounted to 598 in March, falling by an annual 10.2% but up by a monthly 17%.
The regional distribution of residential building permits issued in March shows an annual decrease in all of Romania's development regions. Non-residential permits, however, dropped only in the Southeast, South-Muntenia, and South-West Oltenia regions and increased in all the other five development regions.
In 2023, Romania issued 34,646 building permits for residential projects, down 21% year-on-year.
