LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), May 27 (SeeNews) – Slovenia's retail sales turnover plunged 22.6% year-on-year in terms of volume in April, reaching its lowest level since 2006, after decreasing by an annual 15% in March, the statistical office said on Wednesday.
The April drop is due to closed shops amid the coronavirus pandemic, the statistical office said in a statement.
On a monthly comparison basis, retail trade turnover shrank by 8.8% in April after dropping by 13.5% in March.
Retail sales were down 10.7% on the year in the first four months of 2020, mainly due to lower turnover in March and April.
Last year, Slovenia's retail sales increased by 3.3%, after adding 4.7% in 2018.
