March 19 (SeeNews) - Serbia's state-owned electricity producer EPS on Tuesday opened a tender for geological exploration aiming to extend the capacity of its Drmno open-pit mine by 12 million tonnes of coal.
The value of the contract is 187.5 million dinars ($1.74 million/1.60 million euro), EPS said in a tender invitation.
The deadline for submitting bids expires on April 17, with the contract to be signed for 12 months with an extension option.
EPS says on its website that Drmno's annual capacity is 9 million tonnes of coal. It notes that an overall 172.23 million tonnes of coal had been mined at Drmno since 1987 when the mine went into exploitation until end-2018.
