May 8 (SeeNews) - Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair is investing $100 million (92.9 million euro) in a new plane at Bulgaria's Sofia Airport and expanding its flight schedule from the Bulgarian capital with five new routes this summer, Sofia Airport said on Wednesday.
The new Boeing 737 plane brings Ryanair's Sofia-based fleet to four aircraft, aimed at boosting summer traffic by an annual 23% to 1.6 million passengers this year, the airport said in a statement. In total, Ryanair has invested $400 million in its Sofia fleet.
The additional destinations include Alicante and Valencia in Spain, Bristol in the U.K., Copenhagen in Denmark and Skiathos in Greece, increasing Ryanair's total summer routes to and from the Bulgarian capital to 40.
