November 6 (SeeNews) - Freight logistics group Transport Trade Services (TTS) said on Monday that its river transport services arm Navrom has placed an order for four barges from local shipyard Severnav worth 4 million euro ($4.3 million).
TTS said that the barges -- long, flat boats used to carry cargo on canals and rivers -- will be of the EUROPA 2 type.
The boats will be delivered between July and November 2024. They can transport any type of solid bulk cargo, such as agricultural products, mineral raw materials, products chemical, as well as oversized equipment. Each unit is equipped with sets of aluminum covers and spans 77 metres in length and 11 metres in width.
So far, Navrom has ordered a total of eight EUROPA 2 barges from Severnav, and two of them have already been launched.
TTS shares traded 0.43% higher at 23.2 lei as at 1325 CET on Monday on the Bucharest bourse.
Severnav's shares closed flat at 4.58 lei on November 3.
