March 4 (SeeNews) - Romania's unemployment rate stood at 5.7% in January, higher by 0.1 percentage points than the value recorded a month earlier, the statistical office said on Monday, quoting provisional data.
Compared to January 2023, Romania's jobless rate was 0.1 percentage points higher as well, the statistical office said in a monthly report.
Registered unemployed in Romania numbered 472,000 in January, compared to 458,900 in December 2023 and 453,100 in January of last year.
The jobless rate among women in November was 5% versus 6.3% among men.
The unemployment rate among adults aged between 25 and 74 was estimated at 4.4%. Adults aged 25 to 74 who were jobless in November accounted for 72% of all unemployed people. Unemployment among people aged 15 to 24 remained high, at 22.1%.
Romania's active workforce is estimated to have reached 8.27 million people in 2022, up from 8.21 million in 2021.
