February 20 (SeeNews) - Orange Romania Group, a unit of French multinational telecommunications corporation Orange, said its revenues decreased by 1.2% year-on-year in 2023, reaching 1.551 billion euro ($1.676 billion).
In the fourth quarter of last year alone, Orange Romania's consolidated revenues grew 1.5% on the year to 407 million euro, the company said in a press release on February 15.
In 2023, Orange Romania continued the expansion of its network, reaching 98.77% of the population with 4G coverage and 82.58% with 4G+ coverage. The company also added 13 new cities to its 5G network, bringing the total number of cities with 5G coverage to 38.
Orange Business, the company's IT&C division, experienced a 9% year-on-year revenue increase in the past 12 months. Cybersecurity services, smart city solutions, and digitalisation projects for public administration and education fueled this growth.
YOXO, Orange Romania's digital-first mobile brand, witnessed a 60% customer base growth in 2023 compared to the prior year. Also, the fourth quarter of 2023 saw a 100% increase in new YOXO customers compared to the same period in 2022.
Orange Romania signed the first virtual power purchase agreement (vPPA) in the local telecommunications market in 2023. Additionally, the company collected a total of around 448,000 phones through its Re program, which refurbishes or recycles devices.
As of the end of 2023, Orange Romania Group provided mobile services to 9.5 million customers, fixed broadband internet to 1.1 million customers, and cable and satellite television services to 1.1 million customers.
