February 22 (SeeNews) - The Romanian arm of Swiss food and beverages group Nestle said on Thursday that its organic sales increased by 19% in 2023.
The Romanian unit outperformed the 7.2% annual organic growth rate recorded by the group globally, Nestle Romania said in a press release. The overall value of organic sales in Romania was not disclosed.
Global sales amounted to 93 billion Swiss francs ($106 billion/97.6 billion euro) in 2023, the group said in a separate press release.
Nestle's sales in Europe reached 19.1 billion Swiss francs, boosted by an organic growth rate of 8.2%.
"Unprecedented inflation over the last two years has increased pressure on many consumers and impacted demand for food and beverage products. In this challenging context, we delivered strong organic growth and solid margin improvement with increased marketing and other growth investments," Nestle CEO Mark Schneider said.
The group's global result was supported by a 7.5% annual increase in pricing.
In 2022, Nestle group's organic sales increased by 8.3%.
