June 6 (SeeNews) - Croatian electric carmaker Rimac Automobili said it could start deliveries of all-electric hypercar Nevera to EU buyers following respective regulatory approvals from the European Union.
“We’ve finally received the final paperwork for the EU Type Certification for the Rimac Nevera from the authorities. This is an important one for us since we’ve invested countless hours, thousands of tests, years of hard work and many destroyed hypercars to get to this point. The US certification papers should arrive in the next few weeks as well,” founder and CEO of Rimac Automobili, said in a statement on its Facebook profile on Sunday.
The cars will be assembled in the Jankomir facility in Zagreb. The first cars will be delivered to the customers within the next couple of months, he added.
Rimac Automobili started the Nevera project in 2017, when the company had 200 employees with total capital raised of 40 million euro ($43 million). It unveiled the car at the Geneva Motors Show in 2018 and expected back then that it’ll be able to ship the car in 2020.
Now the company has over 1,500 employees, and 830 million euro of total capital raised.
Last week, Rimac Group said it raised 500 million euro in Series D financing, valuing the company at over 2 billion euro, as Mate Rimac remains the largest shareholder. The funds will be primarily used to further develop its fully-owned technology arm Rimac Technology as it commences large-volume series production for global original equipment manufacturers, using the expertise gained from developing the Nevera hypercar.
The Rimac Group is the majority shareholder in ultra-luxury and high-performance hypercar manufacturer Bugatti Rimac, with a 55% stake and German sports car maker Porsche owning the remaining 45%.
In November 2021, Rimac successfully completed the merger of Rimac’s hypercar division – Rimac Automobili – with Bugatti Automobiles. Both brands now operate under the Bugatti Rimac company.
