March 26 (SeeNews) - Croatia expects to take delivery of two Subaru Bell 412 EPX helicopters in May for the needs of the ministry of the interior, with the purchase to be financed with European Union funds, interior minister Davor Bozinovic said.
The helicopters will have modules for medical evacuation as well as search and rescue operations and will be used by the Croatian mountain rescue service, as well as for medical emergency flights, Bozinovic said in a press release on Monday.
Bozinovic spoke at a ceremony in Zagreb, in which Croatia signed a deal with the Canadian Commercial Corporation - Canada’s government to government contracting agency - to buy two firefighting aircraft for a total of 105 million euro ($114 million). They will be manufactured by De Havilland Canada Aircraft, with the purchase to be fully financed with European Union funding.
According to the De Havilland Linkedin profile, the deal concerns new DHC-515 Aerial Firefighters, which will play a critical role in supporting firefighting operations in Croatia.
