April 27 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's electricity production went up by 19% year-on-year in the period January 1 - April 24, reaching 18,200 GWh, the country's Electricity System Operator (ESO) said.
In the period under review, power consumption in the country edged up 1.7% in annual terms to 13,800 GWh, ESO said in its latest weekly newsletter.
Bulgaria's power trade surplus soared by an annual 155.7%, to 4,400 GWh.
The volume of renewable energy in the transmission network increased by 27% year-on-year to 532.1 GWh through April 24. The volume of renewable energy in the distribution system rose by 21.8% on the year to 735.1 GWh.
The output of hydropower plants fell 34.5% year-on-year to 1,378 GWh in the period under review.
