March 13 (SeeNews) - Total revenue from tourist overnights spent in Bulgaria in January increased by 2.2% year-on-year to 51.1 million levs ($29.5 million/26.1 million euro), the statistical office said on Wednesday.
The revenue from overnights spent by foreign nationals grew by 1.0%, while the revenue from Bulgarian residents rose by 3.8%, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a statement.
The total number of tourist overnights spent in Bulgaria in January fell 2.2% to 889,900.
The biggest drop in the number of overnights, of 6.8%, was registered by three-star hotels, which serviced 20.2% of the total number of overnights of international visitors and 32.7% of the overnights spent by Bulgarian residents.
A total of 382,800 visitors stayed in accommodation facilities in Bulgaria in January, up 2.6% year-on-year. The number of Bulgarian residents staying in accommodation establishments edged up by 0.7%, while the number of foreign visitors rose by 5.6%.
