September 13 (SeeNews) - The gross written premiums (GWPs) of insurance companies operating in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Federation rose 8.7% year-on-year to 411.5 million marka ($213.4 million/210.4 million euro) in the January-August period, official data showed.
Non-life insurance premiums increased 7% on the year to 321.7 million marka in the period under review, while life insurance premiums went up 15.1% to 89.8 million marka, according to figures posted on the website of the Federation’s insurance supervision agency on Monday.
Adriatic Osiguranje was the top insurer in the non-life segment with GWPs of 44.6 million marka in the January-August period, up from 41.4 million marka a year earlier. It was followed by Sarajevo Osiguranje and Euroherc Osiguranje, with premiums of 41.4 million marka and 40.3 million marka, respectively.
In the life insurance segment, Sarajevo-based Grawe Osiguranje ranked first with 20.9 million marka in premiums in January-August, up from 19.6 million marka in the same period of 2021. It was followed by Uniqa Osiguranje and Vienna Osiguranje, with life premiums of 19.4 million marka and 19 million marka, respectively.
At the end of August, 20 insurance companies operated in Bosnia’s Federation.
The Federation and the Serb Republic are two autonomous entities that form Bosnia and Herzegovina.
