April 30 (SeeNews) - Serbia's Aerodrom Nikola Tesla [BEL:AERO], owner of the properties of Belgrade international airport, said on Tuesday its net profit jumped to 43.6 million dinars ($403,000/376,000 euro) in the first quarter, from 2.1 million dinars in the like period of 2023.
Operating revenue rose to 317 million dinars in the first quarter of 2024 from 223 million dinars a year earlier, while operating expenses increased to 287 million dinars from 216 million dinars, Aerodrom Nikola Tesla, the former operator of Belgrade airport, said in a filing to the Belgrade Stock Exchange.
Aerodrom Nikola Tesla derives its revenue mainly from concession fees, which came in at 167 million dinars in the first quarter of 2024, and works for construction, reconstruction and maintenance of the airport's infrastructure totalling 129 million dinars in January-March.
Its operating profit thus climbed up to 30 million dinars from 7.1 million dinars in January-March 2023.
In addition, the company swung to financial profit of 9.4 million dinars in the first three months of 2024 from a financial loss of 4.9 million dinars in the like period of 2023.
Aerodrom Nikola Tesla's shares traded flat at 1,901 dinars by 12:40 CET on Tuesday after shedding 0.21% on Monday.
In March 2018, France's Vinci Airports signed a 25-year concession contract with Serbia to take over the operation of Belgrade airport from Aerodrom Nikola Tesla. The concession process began in December 2018, with Aerodrom Nikola Tesla's main activities mostly shifting to leasing and managing real estate, according to the company's website.
