Bilfinger Tebodin supports producers with climate-friendly mobility projects

Bilfinger Tebodin supports producers with climate-friendly mobility projects

Bilfinger Tebodin is accelerating the future of electromobility, helping the industry in minimising the CO2 footprint. Our experienced team is delivering comprehensive solutions for raw materials processing, battery components production, cell assembly plants, gigafactories and recycling facilities.

The International Energy Agency predicts that electric vehicles will have a market share of about 30 percent by 2030, which roughly means 34 million e-cars on the roads,” says Magda Zemanova, Automotive & battery market leader at Bilfinger Tebodin CEE. “The Net Zero targets and the fact that from 2035 in Europe only new electrical cars will be sold drives the market. This implies new investments in battery storage and battery production that are fuelled by the incentives granted by governments across Europe, like the resilience plan (PNRR) in Romania,” ads Magda Zemanova.

With such a high competition on the market and new technologies appearing daily, investors need an experienced and flexible partner to manage those projects. Bilfinger Tebodin consultants, engineers, process integrators and project managers are reliable experts at all stages of your investment.

Investments to automotive production in Romania are likely to grow

Automotive industry is one of the most important ones in Romania, with a GDP contribution of over 28 percent. There are over 500 companies operating in this sector, employing more than 230,000 workers and covering almost a third of all exports. Automobile Dacia, Ford and Star Assembly, owned by Mercedes-Benz, are the biggest exporters in Romania. This includes fully built automobiles, but also components, sub-assemblies and automotive technologies.

George Cursaru, market leader for Southeast Europe at Bilfinger Tebodin CEE, comments: “We foresee the automotive industry to continue its growth in 2023 due to the volume of ongoing investments. We can mention Ford Otosan investment in Craiova, Mercedes Benz AG in the Sebeș factory, where the electric drive units for the all-electric Mercedes-EQ models are being produced. Another important manufacturer – Michelin, is continuing the investment projects in tire production within its facilities in Romania and Finnish Nokian is in the process of relocating its tire production facility from Russia - the company has announced that it will be the first zero CO2 emission factory in the tire industry.”

Bilfinger Tebodin has over 60 years of experience in the automotive business and a long-term track of chemical projects, Bilfinger Tebodin has been awarded several contracts for over 10 million euro for projects related to e-mobility. All projects are innovative in terms of investors' know-how and the production process technology is being continuously developed. “We can say that Bilfinger Tebodin supports its clients on their path to a “state of the art” factory,” concludes George Cursaru.
