On Sunday, March 22, 2020, at 6.24 am, the national earthquake monitoring network recorded a magnitude 5.1 earthquake near Zagreb (Croatia), 115 km east of Ljubljana. The main earthquake was followed by several aftershocks. The strongest of them was at 7.01 am with a magnitude of 4.4.

The earthquake was also detected by the seismic monitoring system at the Krško Nuclear Power Plant. The plant staff started inspecting systems and equipment as a normal preventive action.

The nuclear power plant continues to operate at full power. Power plant personnel have taken appropriate action. To date, there have been no environmental impacts. The SNSA monitors the developments and will keep the public informed about the results of the systems and equipment inspection and about the further actions.
