December 20 (SeeNews) - Hungarian low-cost air carrier Wizz Air will launch a route from Romania's northwestern city of Cluj-Napoca to London on March 31, the company said on Thursday.
The new service will be operated daily from Romania's biggest airport Henri Coanda to London's Gatwick Airport, Wizz Air said in a press release.
With the new route, Wizz Air will fly to five destinations in the UK from Cluj-Napoca: Birmingham, Doncaster-Sheffield, Liverpool, London Luton and London Gatwick.
In the first eleven months of 2018, Wizz Air carried over 7.5 million passengers on its low-priced routes in Romania, up 13% year-on-year.
Wizz now offers 141 routes to 22 countries from 10 airports in Romania, supporting more than 5,300 local jobs in the aviation, transport, hotel and tourism industries. For 2019, Wizz Air will put up for sale 9.4 million seats for flights to and from Romania, up by 8% compared to last year.
Wizz Air is operating in Romania with a young fleet of 25 aircraft including 5 new 230-seat Airbus A321.
