July 4 (SeeNews) - US foreign assistance agency Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) said it approved a $202 million (193.5 million euro) agreement with Kosovo for a five-year grant programme aimed at helping the country improve its energy sector.
The programme will support a project for energy storage and another one for just and equitable transition acceleration in Kosovo, MCC said in a press release on Friday.
The agreement also aims to promote additional private-sector investments in Kosovo’s energy sector through the American Catalyst Facility for Development project, to be conducted in collaboration with the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation, MCC added.
MCC, which was created 2004, is working to reduce global poverty through economic growth. It provides time-limited grants and assistance to poor countries.
