February 15 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's annual consumer price inflation accelerated to 3.0% in January, from 2.7% in the previous month, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on Friday.
On a monthly comparison basis, consumer prices rose by 0.5% in January, after remaining unchanged in December, NSI data indicated.
Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which have the largest weight of 31.3% in the consumer basket, added 3.6% year-on-year in January, while prices of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (18.2% weight) rose 4.9%.
Prices in the transport segment (8.8% weight) fell 2.6% year-on-year in January.
Bulgaria’s EU-harmonised consumer price index (HICP) added 2.2% on the year in January and was unchanged compared to December.
