August 14 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's annual consumer price inflation accelerated to 2.9% in July, from 2.8% in the previous month, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on Wednesday.
On a monthly comparison basis, consumer prices grew by 0.8% in July, after falling 0.6% in June, NSI said in a statement.
Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which have the largest weight in the consumer basket, increased 4.8% year-on-year in July, while prices of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels rose 4.0%.
Prices in the transport segment edged down 0.8% year-on-year in July.
Bulgaria’s EU-harmonised consumer price index (HICP) added 2.6% on the year in July and was 1.3% higher compared to the June level.
