November 8 (SeeNews) - Italian banking group UniCredit said on Thursday its Romanian unit posted a 45.8% year-on-year rise in pre-tax profit in the first nine months of 2018 to 121 million euro ($139 million).
UniCredit Bank grew its consolidated profit to 98 million euro from 69 million euro, up 42.3%, UniCredit Group said in an interim financial report.
The Romanian arm generated an operating income of 299 million euro in January-September, up 7.3% on the year.
Net interest income rose 18.4% year-on-year to 192 million euro, while net fees and commissions dropped by 15.4% to 52 million euro in the nine months through September.
Deposits rose by 16.2% year-on-year to 5.864 billion euro, while loans grew 5.7%, reaching 5.901 billion euro at the end of September.
UniCredit Bank operated 138 branches in Romania as of end-September, serving more than 600,000 customers.
