October 7 (SeeNews) - Turkish banks' combined net profit rose 18.1% to 17.93 billion Turkish lira ($8.99 billion/6.63 billion euro) in the eight months through August, the country's Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency said on Monday.
The banking sector's loan portfolio increased 28.9% on the year to 965.2 billion lira at the end of August, while deposits went up 21.4% to 880.8 billion lira, data from the regulator's August report on the domestic banking sector showed.
The total assets of the sector grew 23.6% year-on-year to 1.61 trillion lira as of August 30.
