June 6 (SeeNews) - The combined net profits of Turkish banks increased 18.2% to 9.08 billion Turkish lira ($4.81 billion/3.67 billion euro) in the first four months of 2013, the country's Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency, BDDK, said on Thursday.
The banking sector's loan portfolio rose 19.4% on the year to 848.3 billion lira at the end of April while deposits were up 13.6% to 797.16 billion lira, according to preliminary data submitted by the banks to BDDK.
The total assets of the banking sector increased to 1.44 trillion lira as of April 2013 from 1.37 trillion lira in December and 1.26 trillion lira in April 2012.
