April 3 (SeeNews) - Turkey's consumer price index (CPI) rose by 11.86% year-on-year in March, after advancing by 12.37% a month earlier, the country's statistical office said on Friday.
On a monthly comparison basis, Turkey's consumer prices edged up 0.57% in March, after rising 0.35% in February, TurkStat said in a statement.
The year-on-year rise in consumer prices in March was driven by alcoholic beverages and tobacco prices which increased by 40.19%. Prices of miscellaneous goods and services were up 17.21%, whereas housing prices rose by 15.31%.
Prices of clothing and footwear rose by 6.18% year-on-year in March, prices of recreation and culture increased by 6.72% and prices of furnishing and household equipment were up 7.69%.
