SKOPJE (Macedonia), January 14 (SeeNews) – The number of tourists staying in Macedonia rose by 13.0% year-on-year in the first eleven months of 2018, reaching 1,070,379, the country's statistical office said on Monday.
The number of domestic tourists rose 14.2% year-on-year to 399,102, whereas the number of international visitors increased 12.3% to 671,277, Makstat said in a statement.
The number of overnights spent by tourists in Macedonia in the in the January-November period period grew 14.7% to 3,062,887. Tourist overnights spent by Macedonian citizens rose 14.1% to 1,639,547, while foreign tourists spent 1,423,340 overnights, up 15.3%.
In November alone, the number of tourists increased 12.0% on the year to 56,948, while tourist overnights grew 9.2% to 126,373.
Of the total number of foreign tourists who visited Macedonia in November, 10.4% came from Serbia, 10.3% from Bulgaria and 10.0% from Greece.
