October 25 (SeeNews) - Slovenian car parts maker KLS Ljubno expects its production activities to return to normal in the first quarter of 2024 following the disruption caused by August's severe floods in the country, local media reported.
The company has restored its output at 25% and hopes to reach pre-flood production levels in the first quarter of next year, news agency STA quoted CEO Bogomir Strasek as saying on Tuesday.
KLS Ljubno's struggle to resume production after the August floods in Slovenia caused supply chain issues for Volkswagen, resulting in reduced production at its German plants in Wolfsburg and Hanover, as well as a complete halt in production at their Portuguese factory in Palmela.
On Tuesday, Volkswagen said it would go back to regular production next week after fixing the supply issues.
"We are increasing deliveries day by day, to a large extent also for Volkswagen. We are making good progress," STA quoted Strasek as saying.
KLS Ljubno said in August that its production facilities in the Loke industrial zone were completely destroyed by the floods. At the beginning of October, Strasek estimated the total damage to the company at 106 million euro ($112 million), of which more than 60 million euros were to machinery and equipment.
