March 26 (SeeNews) - Serbia’s autonomous province of Vojvodina said it has signed a deal for the construction of a water purification plant in the northern town of Vrdnik, in a project costing 850 million dinars ($7.9 million/7.3 million euro).
“This is a very important investment because it will contribute to the protection of water and the preservation of the environment, the development of the economy, and improvement of the tourist offer of this region,” said head of the local government, Igor Moronic, in a press release last week.
Mirovic said that the municipality of Irig has great potential in wine and spa tourism, with the possibility to expand this in the coming years, and the construction of the Fruskogorski Corridor road will contribute to this.
The 606 million euro ($657.1 million) Fruskogorski Corridor road project, which represents an upgrade to the Novi Sad-Ruma section of Serbia's IB-21 state road, will be carried out by China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC).
