May 7 (SeeNews) - Serbia posted a budget deficit of 19.7 billion dinars ($181.1 million/168.2 million euro) in the first three months of 2024, compared with a deficit of 28.6 billion dinars in the prior-year period, the finance ministry said on Tuesday.
Total budget revenues rose by a real 14.6% on the year to 483.5 billion dinars in the period under review, while expenditures increased by 11.7% to 503.2 billion dinars, the finance ministry said in a statement.
Tax revenues increased by a real annual 16.9% to 424.3 billion dinars in the January-March period of 2024, non-tax revenues rose by 45% to 55.8 billion dinars, while grants soared to 3.4 billion dinars from 20.3 billion dinars in the prior-year period.
On the expenditure side, capital expenditure fell to 72.3 billion dinars from 76.4 billion dinars.
For the month of March alone, Serbia's budget was in deficit of 25 billion dinars, following a deficit of 24.9 billion dinars in February.
At the end of 2023, Serbia's consolidated budget deficit stood at 179.3 billion dinars.
