BELGRADE (Serbia), August 15 (SeeNews) – Aerodrom Nikola Tesla [BEL:AERO], the former operator of the international airport in Serbia's capital Belgrade, said it recorded a net profit of 24.3 million dinars ($230,000/206,400euro) in the first half of 2019, down from 1.4 billion dinars in the like period of last year.
In the second quarter alone, it swung to a 7.2 million dinars loss from a 992 million dinars profit in April-June 2018, Aerodrom Nikola Tesla said in a filing with the Belgrade Stock Exchange on Wednesday.
Total revenue fell to 358 million dinars from 4.8 billion dinars, while total expenses declined to 333 million dinars from 3.1 billion dinars in the first six months of 2018.
The company's share price fell 0.47% to 846 dinars on the Belgrade bourse on Wednesday when the announcement was made.
In March 2018, France's Vinci Airports signed a 25-year concession contract with Serbia covering the airport’s financing, operation, maintenance, extension and upgrade of Belgrade airport. Under the terms of the deal, Vinci Airports paid 417 million euro to the Serbian government and 84 million euro to the retail shareholders of Aerodrom Nikola Tesla for the concession plus an annual concession fee of between 4.4 million euro and 15.1 million euro.
The concession took effect as of December 2018.
Belgrade airport served 2.611 million passengers in the first half of 2019, up 5.9% on the year, Vinci Airports has said.
