November 6 (SeeNews) - Serbia's government will increase the excise duty on cigarettes as of January 1, local media reported on Monday.
The proportional component of the excise tax will remain 33% but the specific component will increase to 92.61 dinars ($0.85/0.79 euro) per pack from 90.99 dinars per pack, news outlet Blic reported.
Following the revision, the retail price of cigarettes will go up by 10 dinars per pack, the report added.
According to Serbia's excise calendar adopted at the end of 2020, the specific component will increase by 1.5 dinars every January and July until 2025, in order for Serbia to comply with EU standards.
