June 21 (SeeNews) - Serbia will increase the excise duty on cigarettes as of July 1, local media reported.
The government decided that the proportional component of the excise duty will remain 33% but the specific component will increase to 84.25 dinars ($0.78/0.72 euro) per pack from 82.75 dinars per pack, news outlet Politika reported on Tuesday.
Following the revision, the retail price of cigarettes will go up by 10 dinars per pack.
According to Serbia's excise calendar adopted at the end of 2020, the specific component will increase by 1.5 dinars every January and July until 2025, in order for Serbia to comply with EU standards.
