April 6 (SeeNews) - Serbia's government plans to introduce more measures for support of the country's economy if the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak lasts more than three months, finance minister Sinisa Mali has said.

The government may provide additional support to specific economic sectors that have been most severely hit by the crisis, Mali said in a video file posted on the website of private broadcaster TV Prva on Saturday.

Last week, Mali said Serbia introduced a 5.1 billion euro ($5.6 billion) financial relief package to mitigate the impact of the crisis on the economy including a 2 billion euro loan guarantee scheme with commercial banks in the country. The state budget will provide up to 65% of the financing for the package, while the remainder will come from borrowing on international markets, Mali said.

Serbia has confirmed 1,908 cases of the coronavirus infection and 51 deaths related to the virus so far. The country closed its borders on March 15, shortly after it declared a state of emergency.
