October 15 (SeeNews) - Serbia hopes to resume wheat exports to Egypt by January 2019 after a 30-year pause, agriculture ministry Branislav Nedimovic said on Monday.
"I hope that the first exports will be launched in December or January," Nedimovic said in a video file posted on the website of news agency Tanjug.

Serbia was put on the list of potential exporters of wheat to Egypt some weeks ago and a delegation of experts from the African country is expected to carry out a final technical review of its storage capacity in November, Nedimovic said.
The launch of exports to Egypt was a joint project of the Serbian wheat producers association Zita Srbije, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Nedimovic noted.
Serbia's 2018 wheat output rose 29.3% on the year to 2.942 million tonnes, the country's statistical office said last month, citing preliminary data as of September 1.
The country harvested 2.278 million tonnes of wheat in 2017, down 21.0% on the year.
