March 11 (SeeNews) - Low-cost carriers Ryanair and Wizz Air announced they are cancelling all flights to Italy, with Wizz Air extending the cancellations to Israel as well, after the countries announced restrictions in an attempt to curb the coronavirus outbreak.
Ryanair's Italian domestic flights will be cancelled from March 11 to April 8, while all Italian international flights of the company will be suspended from March 13 to April 8 after the country announced a nationwide lockdown due to the coronavirus spread, the Ireland-based company said in a statement on Tuesday.
In Southeast Europe (SEE), Ryanair connects Italy to destinations in Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Romania.
Wizz Air flights to Italy will be cancelled from March 10 to April 3, the Hungary-based air carrier said in a statement on Tuesday.
In SEE, Wizz Air connects Italy to Albania, Bulgaria, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Romania.
In addition, Wizz Air announced it is suspending all flights to Israel's Tel Aviv and Eilat due to the introduction of a 14-day quarantine for all arrivals announced by the Israeli authorities as a measure against the spread of the virus.
Flights to Tel Aviv and Eilat from Bulgaria's Sofia and Varna, Romania's Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iasi, Sibiu and Timisoara, as well as from London, Vienna, Budapest, Debrecen, Riga, Vilnius, Katowice, Krakow and Warsaw will be cancelled from March 12 to March 23 inclusive.
