October 31 (SeeNews) - Romanian gas transmission company Transgaz [BSE:TGN] said on Thursday that it has inaugurated the Podisor gas compressor station, part of the first stage of the BRUA gas pipeline project.
The value of construction works at the Podisor gas compressor station totalled 104.5 million lei ($25 million/22 million euro), Transgaz said in a press release.
The two compressor units fitted at the station cost a further 12.6 million euro ($14 million).
The Podisor compressor station includes two 4.6 MW gas compressor units manufactured by U.S.-based Solar Turbines.
At the beginning of the month, Transgaz inaugurated the Jupa gas compressor station, also part of the first stage of the BRUA project, following a 104 million lei investment.
In the first phase of the BRUA project, a total of 560 million euro will be invested in the construction of a new gas pipeline of 550 km in length that will have a maximum capacity of 1.5 billion cubic meters per year in the direction to Bulgaria and 4.4 billion cubic meters per year in the direction to Hungary.
BRUA is a project for a pipeline linking the gas transmission systems of Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and Austria.
Transgaz' shares traded 0.14% lower at 369 lei as at 1545 CET on Thursday on the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
