BUCHAREST (Romania), May 9 (SeeNews) – Romanian power grid operator Transelectrica [BSE:TEL] said on Friday its net profit surged to 136.5 million lei ($42.6 million/30.8 million euro) in the first quarter of 2014 from 91.8 million lei a year earlier.

The Romanian finance ministry owns some 59% of Transelectrica, which is among the 10 most liquid stocks on the Bucharest bourse and is included in its blue-chip BET index. Its shares closed 1.85% up at 19.85 lei on Friday.
