December 10 (SeeNews) - Romania's trade gap widened by 18.4% on the year to an estimated 14.02 billion euro ($15.52 billion) in the first ten months of 2019, the statistical office, INS, said on Tuesday.
Exports and imports rose by 1.7% and 4.6%, respectively, in the period January-October, INS said in a statement.
The European Union absorbed 76.8% of Romania's exports in the period under review, and accounted for 74.7% of the country's imports.
Machinery and transport equipment accounted for 47.3% of Romanian exports and 37.2% of imports, while other manufactured goods made up 31.9% of exports and 30.5% of imports.
In October alone, Romania's exports edged down 0.1% on the year, while imports rose by an annual 0.9%.
Romania's trade deficit widened by an annual 17% to 15.1 billion euro in 2018.
