June 27 (SeeNews) - The value of Romanian banks’ outstanding loans to the non-government sector grew 16.5% year-on-year in May to 345 billion lei ($74 billion/ 70 billion euro), compared to a 15.8% rise in April, the central bank, BNR, said on Monday.
Private lending increased 20% on the year to 251 billion lei in May, after growing 19.6% in April, BNR said in a statement.
Private lending in foreign currency rose 8.2% on the year to 94 billion lei in May, compared to a 6.8% rise in April.
