September 30 (SeeNews) - Romania's unemployment rate fell to 5.1% in August, compared to a revised 5.2% rate in the previous month, the national statistical office said, citing provisional data.
When compared to the same month last year, Romania's jobless rate was 0.4% lower in August 2022, the statistical office, INS, said in a statement on Thursday.
Fewer people were unemployed in August - 422,500, compared to 432,700 in July and 443,800 in August 2021.
The jobless rate among women was 4.1% versus 5.8% among men. The level of unemployment among young people aged between 15 and 24 remains high, at 22.8%.
The unemployment rate among adults aged between 25 and 74 was estimated at 3.9%. The percentage of adults aged 25 to 74 who were without a job in August was 72.3% of all unemployed people.
Romania's workforce is estimated at about 9 million out of a population of some 19.3 million.
