December 7 (SeeNews) - Romanian electric and electronic equipment waste (WEEE) recycling company GreenWEEE International said that it has invested 15 million euro ($16.1 million) in its third recycling plant.
Located in the southeastern county of Buzau, the facility increases the company's annual recycling capacity by 40%, GreenWEEE said in a press release on Wednesday.
The new plant is equipped with modern recycling machinery, enabling GreenWEEE to process a million refrigerators per year and handle a total of 140,000 tonnes of e-waste annually.
Established in 2007, GreenWEEE collects electronic waste from economic operators on the local market, retailers of electronics and appliances, sanitation companies, collectors, as well as through contracts with large producers. It owns three recycling facilities, two in Buzau and one in Campia Turzii.
