August 9 (SeeNews) - Romania's competition authority said it is looking into the takeover of pharmaceuticals retailer Polisano Pharma by local peer Marcos Provit.
In order to determine whether the concentration is compatible with the normal competitive environment, the Competition Council will consider the notified transaction under the merger regulation, the antitrust body said in a statement on Monday.

Polisano Pharma sells pharmaceutical and parapharmaceutical products in 24 pharmacies and a naturist products store located in Sibiu county.
Part of the Evofarm group, Marcos Provit is present on the retail market of pharmaceutical and parapharmaceutical products in specialized stores, as well as on the wholesale market. Evofarm operates over 100 pharmacies across Romania, employing more than 450, according to its website.
In June, the Competition Council approved Marcos Provit takeover of local pharmaceuticals retailer Gifarm.
