January 16 (SeeNews) - Romania's competition authority said on Wednesday it will look into the recent takeover of IT company Wirom Gas by Romanian natural gas retailer Engie Romania.
"In order to determine the concentration compatible with a normal competitive environment, the competition authority will consider the notified transaction under the merger regulation," the Competition Council said in a statement.

Engie Romania, a member of Engie International Group owned by French electric utility company Engie, supplies natural gas to individual and corporate customers. It operates several units - Distrigaz Sud Rețele, Engie Servicii, Alizeu Eolian, Brăila Winds and Engie Building Solutions.
Wirom Gas is present on both the natural gas distribution and supply market segments and also provides maintenance services. Active on the Romanian market since 1994, the company supplies gas to Turnu Magurele, Alexandria, Oltenita, Giurgiu and Corabia.
