January 10 (SeeNews) - Romania's competition authority said on Thursday it is investigating power and gas distribution company Delgaz Grid, a member of Germany-based E.ON Group, for possible abuse of dominant position on the gas distribution market.
The anti-trust authority suspects that Delgaz Grid has benefited other firms of the E.ON group in Romania when inspections and technical revisions of gas installations for customers had to be carried out, it said in a press release.
If Delgaz Grid is found guilty of having breached the competition rules, it will have to pay a fine equivalent to 10% of its turnover.
The authority added that it is in the process of conducting several investigations into possible abuses of dominant position in areas related to gas distribution in companies Distrigaz Sud Retele, Gaz Sud, and SC Megaconstruct.
Delgaz Grid operates a natural gas distribution network over 21,650 km long and an electricity distribution network of over 81,500 km in 20 Romanian counties serving about 3.1 million customers.
