September 23 (SeeNews) - The deposits of the non-governmental sector in Romanian banks grew 8.2% on the year to 487 billion lei ($97.2 billion/98.6 billion euro) in August, compared to an annual increase of 9.7% in July, the central bank, BNR, said on Friday.
Leu deposits increased 5.9% on the year, reaching 309 billion lei in August, compared to 5.5% growth in the previous month, BNR said in a monthly monetary statistics report.
Foreign currency deposits increased 12.3% on the year to 178 billion lei in August, compared to 17.3% growth in July.
