February 7 (SeeNews) - Romanian blue-chip aluminium producer Alro [BSE:ALR] said on Wednesday it has bought an aluminium aging furnace for $2.75 million (2.55 million euro).
Replacing three natural gas-powered furnaces, the new electric furnace will enhance heat treatment operations within Alro's processed aluminium division, the company said in a press release.
The furnace has a capacity of up to 60 tonnes net, and is tailored for processing aluminium plates of various series and dimensions.
"The new equipment, provided by SECO/WARWICK, will support our programme to maximise the value of the products we are manufacturing," said Gheorghe Dobra, Alro's CEO.
As at 1231 CET on Wednesday, Alro shares traded 2.03% lower at 1.45 lei ($0.31/0.29 euro) on the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
