August 29 (SeeNews) - The Romanian leu made fractional gains versus the euro on Friday, interbank FX data indicated.
The local currency closed at 4.3992/4.4043 per euro compared to 4.4023/4.4073 on Thursday.
The leu changed hands between 4.4012 and 4.4162 against the euro during the trading session, real-time interbank FX data published by local portal Conso.ro indicated.
Romania's central bank, BNR, set its reference exchange rate at 4.4126 lei per euro versus 4.4008 lei on Thursday. For the U.S. dollar, BNR set its reference exchange rate at 3.3490 compared to 3.3329 on Thursday.
Turnover on the Romanian interbank leu deposit market fell to 715 million lei on Thursday from 973 million lei on Wednesday. The central bank will issue Friday's turnover figure on Monday.
Interest rates on overnight leu deposits rose to 2.03%/2.53% from 2.00%/2.50% on Thursday.
