October 3 (SeeNews) - The foreign exchange reserves held by Romania's central bank, excluding gold, rose to 43.711 billion euro ($42.863 billion) at the end of September, from 42.851 billion euro a month earlier, the central bank said on Monday.
Foreign exchange inflows amounted to 3.667 billion euro representing changes in credit institutions’ foreign currency-denominated required reserves, inflows into the finance ministry's accounts and inflows into the European Commission (EC) accounts and other, the bank said in its monthly statement.
Foreign exchange outflows totalled 2.807 billion euro, representing representing changes in credit institutions’ foreign currency-denominated required reserves, interest payments and principal repayments on foreign currency public debt and other.
The gold reserves of the central bank remained steady at 103.6 tonnes. However, following the change in the international price of gold, its value amounted to 5.669 billion euro at the end of September.
The international reserves of Romania, including foreign currencies and gold, stood at 49.380 billion euro as of the end of September, compared to 48.565 billion euro a month earlier.
In September, the payments due on the foreign currency-denominated public and publicly guaranteed debt will amount to approximately 234 million euro.
