October 5 (SeeNews) - Romania posted the second-highest year-on-year increase in industrial producer prices among all 27 EU member states in August, of 70.9%, significantly above the EU average of 43.0%, the bloc's statistical office said.
Romania was preceded only by Ireland, where the producer price index (PPI) almost doubled, and was immediately followed by Bulgaria, with a 68.3% yearly increase, Eurostat said in a monthly report on Tuesday.
Among EU member states in Southeast Europe (SEE), Slovenia's annual rate of PPI increase was the lowest, 25.4%. That was among the lowest values for the 27-member bloc.
In monthly terms, Bulgaria's PPI increase of 12.5% was the EU's second-highest, after Ireland, and was followed by Hungary's yearly rise of 10.6%.
No decreases of PPI in monthly or annual terms were registered in the EU countries of Southeast Europe.
