March 11 (SeeNews) - Beijing-based construction company Power Construction Corporation of China, branded as PowerChina, was awarded a 29.8 million euro ($32.7 million) contract to build a bypass road in Serbia's western city of Uzice, the government said.
The construction of the 4.85-kilometre section also includes a 252-metre bridge over the Djetinja river, the cabinet said in a press release on Friday.
The deadline for the project is two years, the statement quoted infrastructure minister Tomislav Momirovic, who signed the contract with the Chinese firm, as saying.
The bypass road will facilitate urban development, enhance traffic safety and reduce the air polution, Momirovic said.
